Diet and Lifestyle Changes to Reduce Pain and Inflammation
Tim’s main aims when starting with me were to lose weight and reduce arthritic pain in his knees and hands. Working in construction, his pain was beginning to affect his work, causing him to take pain killers daily. He liked to play golf at the weekend and was considering giving up as his knees were especially bad when he played. During his initial consultation I also discovered his energy levels had declined quite dramatically in the last year. He had put it down to his physical job and aging, but he had been able to take on slightly lighter duties at work. He was also struggling to get a good night sleep and waking up still feeling exhausted. His health was a big area of stress as he ran his own business and solely relied on his physical abilities to earn money.
Our main areas of priority were to balance his blood sugar levels, reduce inflammation and prioritise nutritious meals and snacks. We also focused on improving the quality and quantity of his sleep. We did not carry out any testing as I felt there was a lot that could be done through nutrition, lifestyle changes and a personalised supplement protocol.
When we began Tim listed his pain as a 7/10 and his fatigue as a 7-8/10. After 3 months of working together his pain was a 3/10 and his fatigue a 5/10. His knees were considerably better, he was able to bend down and get up easier, and was no longer taking daily painkillers. Work and golf were becoming easier and his mobility had increased. His aching in one of his hands was still prevalent but he suspects that it may be due to an old injury. He had lost just under 1 stone and had a good understanding of how to continue to lose weight in a gradual and sustainable way.
When we finished working together, I made sure Tim had enough information of how to continue implementing the changes he had already made whilst further improving his health and reducing his pain.
Tim’s Words…
‘When speaking to Ruby in my consultation we went through my concerns in depth. Ruby was very understanding and gave me hope. I have had problems with my knees for some time and my general wellbeing. Being in the construction industry injuries and aches and pains are common. We also looked at my sleep or sometimes lack of it. Ruby instructed me to eat well and stay off certain foods and to use extra vitamin supplements all of which worked well for me. I continue to keep following the information Ruby gave me. I am very pleased with the outcome and consider Ruby to be very professional but with a good heart. I would definitely recommend her. That’s why I gave five stars’
